Elephants crossing the savanna in warm morning light

First trip · 10 days

Cape Town and safari, without racing the clock.

A high-impact first journey with enough room to experience the places between the photographs.

Days 1–2

Arrive in Cape Town

Settle into the City Bowl or Atlantic Seaboard. Use the first clear weather window for Table Mountain and keep the rest deliberately light.

Day 3

Cape Peninsula

Drive the Atlantic coast, cross Chapman's Peak when open, continue to Cape Point and return via the False Bay coast.

Day 4

City, culture and food

Choose the Company's Garden, Bo-Kaap, District Six context or a guided city experience, then leave room for a long lunch or sunset.

Day 5

Winelands or a spare Cape day

Take a focused day trip to Stellenbosch or Franschhoek—or use the day as weather insurance for the mountain and coast.

Day 6

Fly to safari country

Take a morning flight toward Kruger. Check in, slow down and join an afternoon drive if the timing works.

Days 7–8

Full safari days

Use the cool mornings and late afternoons for drives. Rest during the heat rather than filling every hour.

Day 9

One last dawn, then Johannesburg

Take a final drive before flying or transferring to Johannesburg. Stay near the airport or add a considered city stop.

Day 10

Fly home

Keep the last day uncomplicated. If your long-haul departs late, plan one nearby activity rather than a cross-city sprint.

Make it longer

“With 14 days, add three or four nights on the Garden Route—or slow both Cape Town and safari down.”
